At American Queen Voyages, we recently announced that we will introduce ‘Concierge Class’ for 2023 Lower Mississippi sailings between New Orleans and Memphis, on the all-suite, American Duchess. The American Duchess is a purpose-built boutique paddle-wheeler, holding just 166 guests.

Cindy D’Aoust, the newly-appointed president of American Queen Voyages (AQV), said that she wants to see American Duchess become a symbol of prestige on America’s rivers and the launch of ‘Concierge Class’ is the start of that mission.

Guests on The American Duchess will enjoy an all-inclusive ‘Concierge Class’ experience, starting even before the cruise, with luxury hotel accommodation and a shoreside dining experience the night before sailing. Onboard, guests will have a personal river butler service, unlimited premium beverages and gourmet cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. When not cruising, as well as the hop-on-hop-off excursions available at every port, Concierge Class will offer unlimited premium shore excursions – guests can, for example, discover the fascinating history behind pre-war homes and Civil War battlefields, explore bayou life and Cajun culture by airboat, or even golf at one of the Deep South’s premier private country clubs.

Cindy D’Aoust also announced that the American Duchess, which was built from an existing hull of a retired casino boat and joined the AQV fleet in 2017, will undergo a major refurbishment and layup later in 2023, ready to return to service for the start of the 2024 season.

American Queen Voyages is also increasing the number of Lower Mississippi sailings between the iconic music cities Memphis and New Orleans, a stretch of the river rich in Deep South and Civil War history.  There will be a 40% increase across the three American Queen Voyages’ paddle-wheelers sailing this section of river, the flagship American Queen, the all-suite American Duchess and the American Countess, with its traditional exterior but more contemporary interior.  In 2022 there were 50 Lower Mississippi sailings, and these will increase to 71 in 2023.

American Queen Voyages is represented in the UK and Europe by Light Blue Travel.
